10 unconventional things our founder does as a hippie grandma

10 unconventional things our founder does as a hippie grandma

1. Only uses organic coffee beans

Turns out coffee is one of the most highly pesticide sprayed crops out there. It’s something she drinks every day, so it’s important to her that she chooses coffee that’s organic and tested for mold and mycotoxins. She also loves turning her morning coffee into a nourishing ritual by adding an egg yolk, raw milk, and a little raw honey and molasses for a rich brown sugar touch.

2. Drinks her water out of a copper cup and wears copper jewelry

Copper actually carries some pretty amazing healing properties! It’s an essential mineral involved in energy production, iron metabolism, and connective tissue health. She believes that every part of our Earth does carry God-given energy and it’s amazing to use materials that hold these benefits. Copper was used much more in ancient times in things such as copper pipes, whereas in our modern world we are oftentimes deficient in copper so she loves to incorporate it back in where she can.

3. Only wears natural fibers

On the same note as the copper, natural fibers such as linen, organic cotton, wool, and silk carry these natural healthy properties. Clothing with polyester and other plastic based materials carry hormone disruptors and chemicals. She makes sure to shop for only natural fibers and invest in quality pieces for her closet that are also good for her body.

4. Movement after meals

Jill loves taking a little walk after a big meal to digest and unwind. Getting her body moving and eyes in the sunlight helps prevent that sluggish post-meal feeling that can sometimes set in after eating. It’s one of the simplest wellness habits she’s added into her life, but also one of the most impactful. Fresh air, movement, sunshine, and slowing down for a few minutes can truly change the tone of an entire day. 5. Cooks her food in beef tallow Our founder only cooks food for her family in nourishing fats and oils such as beef tallow, butter, ghee or high quality olive oil. Seed oils such as canola oil are highly inflammatory and processed, so she keeps them out of her kitchen 100% of the time. She prefers using ingredients that have stood the test of time and believes our bodies thrive best on simple, traditional ingredients that our grandparents would recognize.

6. Wears barefoot grounding shoes

Once Jill found out about earthing shoes, she was sold. She is always trying to find ways to recharge and feel grounded in everyday life. The wide toe box and flexible sole encourages a more natural stride while the copper grounding element in the sole of the shoe is specially designed to allow the body to maintain a direct electrical connection with the Earth's natural surface charge.

7. Brushes her teeth with natural ingredient tooth powder

She uses her homemade tooth powder with ingredients like bentonite clay, salt and baking soda to detox, remineralize, cleanse & whiten her teeth without the use of fluoride or artificial ingredients. It detoxifies her mouth and pulls bacteria away from her gums and teeth. She loves it and her husband grabs for it too every time.

8. Removed her breast implants and stays away from botox and filler

After years of having breast implants and experimenting with botox a few times, she learned about the dark side of the toxicity these body alterations bring. Removing her implants became part of a much bigger shift toward supporting her body’s natural state and ridding herself of these toxins weighing her down. These days, she embraces aging with a much more relaxed approach and focuses more on nourishing her skin, hormones, and overall health from the inside out rather than chasing perfection.

9. Stays away from seed oils

She believes many modern foods have become overly processed and disconnected from the way humans traditionally ate for generations. Instead, she focuses on whole foods, quality animal proteins, raw dairy, fruit, honey, and nourishing fats, a balance of good quality carbs, and a balance of nutritious meals that leave her feeling energized instead of inflamed or sluggish.

10. Doesn’t wear sunglasses while tanning

This one might sound controversial, but Jill prefers to get natural sunlight in her eyes and on her skin on a day in the sunshine without always blocking it out behind dark lenses. She believes our bodies were designed to work with the rhythms of the sun and that healthy sunlight exposure plays a huge role in mood, sleep, hormones, and overall well-being. She also has noticed that when her eyes are able to receive the full spectrum of light, she is able to not get any sunburns because her body knows what to do to protect itself.
